The ASWCC Newsletter seeks to be a wide, all-inclusive collaboration of all persons involved at Woodland Community College. We encourage you to contribute anything, most especially material concerned with our school. Read on to find out more about the newsletter, submission guidelines, and important dates
[Mission Statement]
The ASWCC newsletter is an academic newsletter addressing WCC student education, thoughts, concerns, ideas, lifestyles, careers, and futures. This medium of communication brings attention to news and issues impacting our education here at WCC through a monthly printed newsletter circulation and newsletter blog.

[Goals]
·         Monthly publication w/ads. Revenue to fund ASWCC endeavors.
·         Reach out to students to inform, educate, inspire, and motivate.
·         Provide accurate calendar of events in one place
·         Plant the seeds for a community; bring students together by connecting them to peers and school.
·         Articles, features, activities, information, etc. will be student, staff, faculty, and community generated content.
·         Help bring attention to pressing issues within WCC school system/campus

[Content]
·         Highlights on current campus issues
·         Student concerns, successes, ideas, and original work
·         Upcoming events (calendar, articles, announcements, ad spots) and previous events (report/reflection)
·         Exposés on clubs, student resources, faculty/staff members, community going-ons
·         Editor Q&A (“hot issue,” ridigilous questions?); Letter to the editor section
·         Puzzles & games
·         Columns: health, advice, school resources, sports, entertainment, etc.
·         Creative writing pieces, poems, prose, original song lyrics (maybe feature music sheet?)
·         Art - Photos, sketches, illustrations, art reviews, etc.

[Contributor Guidelines]
·         Racism or any type of “hate-bashing” will not be tolerated nor considered for the newsletter.
·         Please do not include profanity in your submissions unless they are part of a creative writing piece, in which case approval of the piece will be at the editor’s and ASWCC’s discretion.
·         Opinion pieces are encouraged but please be considerate of the diverse views and beliefs shared at WCC.
·         College level compositional skills are expected, and pieces will be revised/edited by editor before published
·         If applicable, include sources/references with articles.
·         As a contributor, you are highly encouraged to bring your style and personality to your piece!

[Submission Guidelines] you are encouraged to make special arrangements with the editor if your piece will need to exceed the MAX. Email the editor with your draft to aswccnewsletter@gmail.com
Articles:
Full-length:                              500 words MAX (ex. Controversial issue, WCC school issue)
Half-length:                             300 words MAX (ex. Regular pieces: exposés, columns, interviews, etc.) 
Creative writing pieces:
Flash fiction:                            300 words MAX
Poetry, prose, lyrics, etc.:         24 lines MAX
Other:                                                 100 words MAX
Reviews, announcements, letters to the editor (to be featured), advice column letters, etc.

3/5 review Vol. 1 in ASWCC
3/15 drafts due for review
3/22 all final submissions due; NO EXCEPTIONS
3/25 complete Vol. 2
3/26 approve Vol. 2 in ASWCC; send to print shop
4/8 receive Vol. 2 and distribute

[April, Vol. 3]
4/9 review Vol. 2 in ASWCC
4/12 drafts due for review
4/19 all final submissions due; NO EXCEPTIONS
4/22 complete Vol. 3
4/23 approve Vol. 3 in ASWCC; send to print shop
4/30 receive Vol. 3 and distribute
